Antonio L. Ford

Mr. Ford's law enforcement and correctional career spans nearly 20 years; and, includes an extensive educational background in criminal justice. He is employed by the METRO Police Department in Houston, Texas. His tenure has given him the opportunity to establish and maintain positive relationships with the community, and partner with other entities to coordinate appropriate services as required for the benefit of the public.

According to Moore (20), “selecting and maintaining competent law enforcement personnel at all levels is a never ending and extremely critical task.” Law enforcement agencies “focus testing of new hires and promotion of current personnel is based on methods, such as a written examination, time in the department, and demonstrated performance, all of which represent necessary criteria (Moore, 20).”
Today’s law enforcement administrators are concerned with a Capricornia of matters relating to the effective and efficient operation of their respective organization. While managing departmental budgets, reducing the perception of crime, and minimizing liabilities are staples of the duties performed by leadership, the issue of succession planning has to be taken into consideration.
