TORONTO _ Toronto police have laid more charges against the parents of a baby girl who was abandoned in a freezing stairwell in January. The baby found in the parking garage stairwell was subsequently dubbed Angelica-Leslie and is now in foster care. The parents, both 30, were initially each accused of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, abandoning a child and two other charges. They now face an additional three charges each of failing to provide the necessities of life. The woman also faces a new charge of assault and the man is now also charged with two counts of assault with a weapon. The couple _ who each face a total of 13 charges _ are to appear in court again on July 11.© 2008 The Canadian Press |
