VANCOUVER _ The Crown says two men convicted of possession and trafficking of cocaine following an RCMP investigation in Kelowna are at the top of the Hells Angels hierarchy. The prosecutor is asking a B.C. Supreme Court judge to sentence Richard Rempel to eight years and David Revell to 10 years in prison for convictions on one count of possession and one count of trafficking each. The Crown says the men, both full-patch members of the Hells Angels, were motivated by greed and neither is a drug addict. The Crown failed in its attempt to have the Hells Angels deemed a criminal organization by the courts. Another man was found not guilty of possession or commission of an offence for a criminal organization following the 10-month trial. The case involved eight kilograms of cocaine seized from three locations in Kelowna, B.C., where the Crown alleged the Vancouver-based East End Hells Angels had moved, calling themselves the K-Town Crew in order to establish a new chapter and take over the lucrative illegal drug trade in the Okanagan. © 2008 The Canadian Press |
