AGASSIZ, B.C. _ A convicted killer who walked away from a minimum security facility in B.C.'s Fraser Valley earlier this week has walked back into custody. The RCMP say Ralph Whitfield Morris returned to a native healing village in Agassiz this morning. Mounties went to the facility and arrested him for escaping lawful custody. The 73-year-old Morris told police he'd been living in the forest several kilometres from the prison for the past few days and returned because of the harsh conditions and because he knew what he was doing was wrong. He was the second escaped killer to walk away from a minimum security jail in B.C. in 11 days. Blane MacDougal disappeared from the Ferndale Institution near Mission on April 19 and remains on the loose.© 2008 The Canadian Press |
