TORONTO _ A Toronto police officer has been arrested and charged with drunk driving offences. Police say Const. Adam Lourenco, 31, drove through a green light at 3 a.m. Friday and stopped his car in the middle of an intersection. Officers were alerted when a bystander saw the vehicle sitting in the intersection with the engine running and headlights on. Lourenco was charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and over 80 milligrams care or control. He has been with the Toronto Police Service for six years. Lourenco is scheduled to appear in court on June 20. © 2008 The Canadian Press |
